Ghost Forest

2026

Artist statement

Ghost Forest is a black-and-white fine art photography series that explores the fragile boundary between memory and erosion. Along a quiet stretch of coast, weathered trees stand exposed to salt, wind, and time, their roots and limbs transformed into sculptural reminders of what once was. The series invites viewers to hear the distant rhythm of the surf, feel the coarse grain of sun-bleached wood, smell the salt carried on the air, taste the lingering presence of the sea, and imagine the silence that settles between each advancing tide. Stripped of color and distraction, these images become less about a place and more about a feeling—grief without despair, resilience without triumph, and beauty found in what remains after loss. Ghost Forest is a meditation on endurance, inviting us to consider the people, seasons, and moments that have shaped us, and the traces they leave behind long after they are gone.
